Orsola De Marco
Head of Startups
Orsola joined the ODI in July 2015 working in the startup team. She worked across different roles wearing several hats.
She currently leads the two startup programmes, the ODI startup accelerator for data-driven companies and the Open Data Incubator for Europe, a €7.8M EU-funded project delivered by seven partners across Europe. Aside from managing the programmes, she advises and mentors startups on their business models, product-market fit, pitching and is the external face of the startup programme.
Prior to the ODI, Orsola worked in the civic tech startup Spacehive, the national charity Glass-House Community-Led Design and led different social innovation projects, one of which won a Social Enterprise Award from UnLtd.
In early 2015 she co-founded a crowdsourcing and co-design platform that promotes civic engagement and collaborative urbanism.
She is passionate about how open data and digital tools can help solve real challenges. She is also part of a women-led network for growing women’s leadership and collaboration to make everyday life in cities better for everyone.
She holds a BS in Economics and Management and an MA in Applied Imagination in the Creative Industries - basically Design Thinking - from Central Saint Martins.
