Jeni Tennison OBE appointed ODI Chief Executive Officer

The ODI’s former Technical Director and Deputy CEO, Jeni Tennison, OBE has been appointed as company CEO after former Chief Executive Gavin Starks decided to stand down from the role for personal reasons.

Welcoming her new position, Jeni Tennison said: “I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for the ODI. The team here has created a company that – with its network of startups, franchises and partners – has generated over £50M of direct value to the economy from data, since it opened in December 2012. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues in my new role as we take the ODI into the next phase of its development.”

Gavin Starks will continue to work with the ODI. Starting this October, he will help deliver the company’s Startup Accelerator as an Associate.

The ODI’s Chairman and co-founder, Sir Nigel Shadbolt, said: “I am extremely grateful for the energy, enthusiasm and commitment which Gavin has shown in helping us all to create the ODI and make it the great organisation that it is. I look forward to working with him in the future to deliver more data-driven startups. Jeni will be a strong successor to Gavin in the role of CEO and I am excited about working with her to build on the successes of the past four years.”
